“With the help of Zayed Future Energy Scholarship ,  I  was able to set up a mini production center at my home . I call it Anjumara Technology Center .  Now I do not have to walk  to Grameen Technology Center every day to work .  My earning has increased to Tk 8000 ( US$ 100 ) per month- I can look after my father ,  help my sister’s education .  I have also enrolled in the Open University . Thanks to  Dipal C.  Barua ,  First Zayed Future Energy Winner  , my  life has changed “    

  
We are two sisters.  My father is a poor farmer in Bepari Danga ,  Faridpur  . When I was in grade 6 ,  my father married me off to a eligible   bachelor ,  from over- seas .  I was only thirteen , I did not wish to marry.   I wanted to continue my study .  

My   impoverished   father married  me off  because he wanted me to be happy . But this was not to be  my fate.  My mother in law and sister in laws started torturing me , as soon as I set my foot in my new home . My husband said nothing . I soon found out  that my husband had a previous wife and a daughter .  Still , I did not wish to leave my husband .  But  I was unable to stay  for long , I forced to come back to my father’s home as the  torture grew worse, day by day.

Meanwhile,   we  lost our  land and home  to river Padma . My father started working  as a day labourer .  Our situation became dire and my sister was forced to discontinue her education . 

I was sent to stay with my uncle, but he was also poor.  I did not know what to  do . This was during this time ,  I heard about Grameen Technology Center in  Faridpur .  Sisters from Grameen Technology Center heard about my story and called me to participate in the technician training . I successfully participated in 15 days  training and  came first in my batch .  I learnt about Solar Home Systems ,  Biogas plants and Improved Cooking Stoves, especially how to assemble solar accessories such as inverters ,  dc-dc converters and mobile chargers .

Grameen Technology  Center  Sisters were happy with my performance.  They soon gave me work at the production center . I began to earn around Tk. 3000 per month .  I was able to help my family .

Then came the good news   .  I was selected for the Zayed Future Energy Scholarship .  I went to Grameen Shakti to collect the scholarship from our managing director , Dipal Barua. This was an over whelming experience for me .

Before I had to go to the Grameen Technology Center for working .  Now I have purchased a working table , soldering iron,   mul-timeter etc so that I can work at my home . With the help of  Zayed Future Energy Scholarship I have been able to open a mini production center at my home .  I call it Anjuman Ara technology Center .

My income has increased ,  now   I am earning around Tk. 8000 per month.  I am looking after  my father .  I have  enrolled in open university  and my sister has started her education again .  I can wear good clothes and eat well .  My life has changed , thanks to Grameen Shakti .  My social status has increased  greatly . People respect me and consider me a praiseworthy person.
